MANIFEST is a vital and visceral public performance exploring gender, power and public space.

MANIFEST will use drag and movement to create a public intervention, challenging and critiquing the way public spaces work now, and celebrating how they could be different.

MANIFEST is being developed by Produced Moon, movement artist Elsabet Yonas, drag artist Lauren Steele and local young women and non-binary people who identify as LGBTQI+ and allies over February and March. Through drag king workshops, led by drag king Thrustin Limbersnake, we will explore our experiences of public space, and imagine how public space could be different, working to create a performance that practically manifests this. We create the world we want to see.

Please join us for an early sharing of this powerful, provocative and playful public performance, followed by a discussion exploring key themes and responses with the artists and young people involved. Following the short outdoor performance, we will walk over to the nearby Venture Centre for discussion and reflection on the work, including sharings from participants and exploration of process.

The discussion will be BSL interpreted.

“This is fascinating, compelling and thought-provoking drama which is achieved through clever, playful and collaborative experiences”, All Edinburgh Theatre, Eden Gate

The project is supported by a Westway Trust Artist Commission and Arts Council England.
